Key New Hampshire Landlord-Tenant Rules

Eviction Notice (Nonpayment)

7-day notice to pay rent or vacate required before filing a landlord-tenant writ in circuit court. (RSA § 540:3)

Security Deposit Return

Must be returned within 30 days of move-out (or 20 days for month-to-month tenancy) with itemized deductions. (RSA § 540-A:7)

Security Deposit Limit

Capped at 1 month's rent or $100, whichever is greater.

Habitability Standard
